30 Day Fanfic Meme - Day 1

I totally snagged this meme from m_aenea and I'm sort of excited to do it because I've never done one of those 30-day memes before and this one is totally up my alley. :D I don't do enough cosplay or watch enough anime anymore to do any of those other memes floating around so... Yeah, let's get this started. :3

30 Days Fanfiction Meme

1 – How did you first get into writing fanfic, and what was the first fandom you wrote for? What do you think it was about that fandom that pulled you in?

Um well, I kind of got into fandom and fic and such, later on in life. Most people get into it in their teen years nowadays, but I was in my earlier 20's when I discovered things like fanart and fanfiction and stuff like that. I was into anime and stuff when I was like 18 or 19 and I've always been an active video game addict, but I didn't really fall into fandom until a few years later.

I'm not sure how I got into writing fanfic. I think it was pretty much just, "Hey, I want to see these characters bang, shit, I think I'll write it!" The first fandom I wrote for was the Xenosaga fandom, which I never was really "officially" in, but I remember way back when on GameFAQs, myself and some friends had made a topic on the Xenosaga boards that was pretty much an ongoing story and everyone would add bits to it, and I really had fun with that. But then I wanted to write more explicit stuff which is totally against the ToS there, so I just kind of wrote stories which I would post on an old Xenosaga group on Yahoo! I can't remember exactly what I wrote, and (un?)fortunately those fics have probably been lost to an old hard drive somewhere or another, but I do vaguely recall writing a fic that involved a hot tub (because what spaceship wouldn't be complete without a hot tub?) and a threesome between Allen Ridgeley (who I still sort of have a crush on), Jr. and Hammer. Yeeeeeah. >_>

As for what pulled me into the Xenosaga fandom? Well, I've found out over the years that I tend to focus on (and maybe get a teensy bit obsessed with) certain video games, and Xenosaga was the first series that I really got into. Despite the complicated plot (which I still don't totally understand and probably never will), I really connected with the characters and thoroughly enjoyed playing the games. Plus, since there were so many unanswered questions (not to mention good looking guys, ahem) there were many possibilities to explore in fic.
